‘I want to speak to the hostages’
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu stated in his speech that the army has taken control of the phones of Gaza residents and Hamas members. “My speech is being broadcast live through them. I want to speak to those hostages in Gaza from this platform. I have surrounded Gaza with giant loudspeakers connected to this microphone so that our dear hostages can hear my message.”
Addressing the Gaza hostages, Netanyahu said, “We have not forgotten you for a moment. The Israeli government and people are with you. We will not stop until you all get home. Thanks to the special efforts of Israeli intelligence agencies, my speech is being broadcast. I am being live-streamed via mobile phones in Gaza.”
Warning to Hamas
The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office had previously announced that Netanyahu’s speech would be broadcast live in Gaza. However, initially, it was only intended to be streamed from the Israeli side of the border. Later, loudspeakers mounted on trucks and cranes were brought to army checkpoints inside the Gaza Strip, and Netanyahu’s speech was played.
Benjamin Netanyahu strongly targeted Hamas during this period. Netanyahu said, “I call on the remaining Hamas leaders to lay down their arms. Release all the hostages. If you release them, you will be saved. If you don’t, Israel will pursue you and destroy you.”
