J&K Police busts inter-state terror module linked to Pak’s Jaish-e-Mohammad and AGuH; 7 arrested from…

The officials from Jammu & Kashmir Police on Monday reported the cracking of an interstate terror module linked with terrorist groups like Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH). It comes simultaneously with the retrieval of explosives and arms from a village in Faridabad. The authorities stated that the joint investigation of the Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir police led to the arrest of Dr Muzammil Shakil, one of the wanted individuals.

Recent arrests

The officials claim that the case crackdown comes after Jaish-e-Mohammad posters were found in multiple locations in Srinagar that threatened police and security forces. The arrested individuals include Dr. Muzammil Ahmad Ganaie alias Musaib, Arif Nisar Dar alias Sahil, Yasir-ul-Ashraf, Maqsood Ahmad Dar alias Shahid, Maqsood Ahmad Dar alias Shahid, Zameer Ahmad Ahanger alias Mutlasha, and Dr. Adeel.

Dr Muzammil Ahmad teaches at Al Falaha University, which is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

What has the police recovered?

The police recovered 350 kilograms of explosives along with an AK-47 rifle from Muzammil’s rented place in Faridabad. It further conducted multiple raids at different locations and recovered two pistols, 2900 kilograms of explosives, Improvised Explosive Device (IED) making materials, inflammable compounds, batteries, wires, and AK rifles.

The police said, “The module was involved in identifying, radicalising, and recruiting individuals into terror ranks, besides raising funds, arranging logistics, and procuring arms, ammunition, and explosive material.”
