Pune man strangles wife and burns her body after watching Drishyam 4 times; reason is…

A horrific incident of murder has been reported in Pune. A man named Samir Punjabrao Jadhav (42) killed his wife, Anjali (38), under the pretext of an alleged affair. He was inspired by the movie Drishyam to commit the crime. After planning for many months, he booked a garage and took his wife for an outing, where he strangled her and later burnt her body. After committing the crime, he disposed of his wife’s ashes in the river during the morning.

Why did the Pune man kill his wife?

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone 3, Sambhaji Kadam, said that the man admitted to killing his wife, Anjali, because he suspected she had an extramarital affair with one of his friends. According to him, this led to frequent arguments and quarrels between the couple over the last one and a half years.

Inspiration from the ‘Drishyam’ movie

The 38-year-old Anjali worked as a private school teacher. Samir Jadhav had planned the murder plot well in advance. He had booked a rented godown in Shindewadi for Rs. 18,000. After convincing his wife to go out for an outing, he took Anjali to the rented place where he strangled her. Later, he burnt the wife’s body in a fabricated kiln and disposed of her ashes in a river during the morning hours.

Police mentioned that the accused was inspired by the movie ‘Drishyam’ and had seen it four times in a month before committing the serious crime.

Police Investigation

During the investigation, it was found that Samir had recently travelled to Hyderabad and had sent an “I love you” text from his friend’s device, to which his wife replied, “I love you too” to the friend’s number. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Kadam disclosed that Jadhav used it as evidence to prove the affair, which may be fabricated.

According to the reports, Samir Jadhav filed a report at the Warje police station on October 28 and mentioned that his wife had gone out to meet a friend two days ago. However, CCTV footage flipped the case, as the husband’s statement didn’t match the footage.

The CCTV showed the two left home together on October 26. After continuous investigation and unmatched events, the authorities stated that Samir admitted to committing his wife’s murder.
