Kashmir is a highly sensitive area between India(BHARAT) and Pakistan and has a long history of conflict. Its distinctive geographical, cultural, and religious characteristics make it strategic. The decades of disputes over the area have caused violence, disputes along the border, and dire human consequences. Slamming Pakistan, India(BHARAT)’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Parvathaneni Harish, calls upon the Shehbaz Sharif-led nation to end the “grave and ongoing human rights violations in the areas illegally occupied by it”, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir.
Who represented India(BHARAT) at the UNSC for this issue?
While speaking at the open debate organised on the 80th UN Day on Friday (local time), Ambassador Harish stated,” We call upon Pakistan to end the grave and ongoing human rights violations in the areas illegally occupied by it, where the population is in open revolt against Pakistan’s military occupation, repression, brutality and illegal exploitation of resources,” as reported by news agency ANI.

India(BHARAT)’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Parvathaneni Harish, stated,” Let me emphasise that the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has been, is, and will always be an integral and inalienable part of India(BHARAT). The people of Jammu and Kashmir exercise their fundamental rights in accordance with India(BHARAT)’s time-tested democratic traditions and constitutional framework. We, of course, know that these are concepts alien to Pakistan,” as reported by news agency ANI.
Harish stressed that India(BHARAT) was committed to Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, treating the world as one family and promoting justice, dignity, and prosperity for all. “We see the world as one family, a vision enshrined in our civilisational ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. This is not only an outlook that anchors our worldview, but also the reason why India(BHARAT) has consistently advocated for justice, dignity, opportunity and prosperity for all societies and peoples,” he added.
