JK Police avert major terrorist attack with arrest of 19-year-old, was preparing to carry out suicide bombing in Jammu
The chats and voice messages in his phone indicated preparations for a major attack.
New Delhi: The arrest of a student in Jammu has caused a stir. A 19-year-old youth, who claimed to be preparing for the NEET exam, was caught while planning a terrorist attack. Surprisingly, the youth was constantly receiving instructions from a terrorist network across the border.
JK Police were engaged in a search and intelligence operation
Following the Delhi bombings, the Jammu and Kashmir Police were engaged in a search and intelligence operation. During this time, this young man, who was living on rent in Bhatindi, came to light. Though he appeared to be a normal student, the chats and voice messages hidden in his phone indicated preparations for a major attack.
The arrested youth, Mohammad Sajid, is a resident of Reasi. He was living on rent in Bhatindi under the pretext of preparing for the NEET exam, where he studied in a private library and worked as an assistant. He posed as an ordinary student, but he secretly received instructions from his Pakistani handler.
Mobile phone reveals the entire conspiracy
Jammu Police had set up a checkpoint on the Bhatindi Sunjwan Road. As soon as Sajid approached the checkpoint, he suddenly turned and ran. However, the police chased and apprehended him. A search of his phone exposed the entire conspiracy.
Suspicious items found on his mobile phone, including voice messages from his Pakistani handler, technical inputs related to the blast, jihadi chats on the Session app, locations and instructions for planting explosives, and preparations for a major blast targeting Jammu. Also, he was continuously changing mobile phones and SIM cards.
Chats revealed information about explosives
According to officials, the chats revealed information about “sending and planting explosives.” Sajid was tasked with carrying out a major terrorist attack in Jammu. Locals also reported that he would make late-night calls, conversing in whispers with someone, and changing mobile phones and SIM cards every few days. Police believe he was not alone. A technical team has been deployed to access his network, possible associates, and Pakistani handlers.
FIR registered, investigation intensified
The Trikuta Nagar police station in Jammu has registered a case against him under Section 113(3) of the India(BHARAT)n Penal Code. An investigation is also underway to determine his connection to the Delhi blast.
Suicide attack plan also surfaced
According to information, 19-year-old Sajid was preparing to carry out not just a simple blast, but a major suicide attack in Jammu. Activities similar to the “suicide pattern planning” adopted by Dr Umar in the Delhi attack were found on his phone. Pakistani handlers were preparing him to carry out a similar attack, and he was being brainwashed by constantly sending jihadist material.
