Kabir Khan opens up about his 'special connection' with Salman Khan's 'Tiger' franchise, says 'Keeping fingers crossed'

Salman Khan fans are eagerly counting the days to witness his spy thriller, Tiger 3 on the big screens. The first installment in the popular Tiger franchise, Ek Tha Tiger was made under the direction of Kabir Khan.

As the latest project in the franchise is scheduled to reach the audience shortly, Kabir Khan talked about his emotional connection with the franchise during a recent interaction with News 18. He revealed that he has always had a sense of being a part of the endeavour as he was the one who created the character of Tiger (Salman Khan) with the 2012 release, Ek Tha Tiger.

Kabir Khan also revealed that even though it has been more than a decade since Ek Tha Tiger was released in the theatres, he remains super proud of the movie. The filmmaker stated that despite not being a part of Salman Khan’s Tiger, he is nervous and excited about the release of the drama. He added that he is inquisitive about the story of the film. Kabir Khan was quoted as saying, “I am waiting for it to release and I plan to see it only on the big screen cheering and whistling with the audience. Yash Raj Films is like home for me and I am keeping my fingers crossed and wishing all the success to the entire team.”

Kabir Khan also disclosed that while he had thought of turning Ek Tha Tiger into a franchise, he never thought of making it a part of a spy universe. “But I am excited for the YRF Spy-verse and it’s a good thing as long as the audiences are enjoying it.”

While Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif will be seen reprising their roles as Tiger and Zoya respectively, Emraan Hashmi has also been roped in as antagonist in Tiger 3. Helmed by Maneesh Sharma, the project has been backed by Aditya Chopra under his banner, Yash Raj Films. The action thriller is scheduled to hit the big screens on 12 November this year during Diwali.
