Bengaluru: Upma, Idli and Sambar, a healthy breakfast for a healthy ‘relationship’. Chief Minister’s residence on Saturday became a warring powerhouse centre after Siddaramaiah and his deputy DK Shivakumar had breakfast together and tried to calm the inside tremors that are shaking the Congress party in the state. Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar’s meeting came amid the speculation of a leadership reset in Karnataka.

Why Did Siddaramaiah, Dk Shivakumar Meet Over Breakfast?

Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar had a conversation during the breakfast at the CM residence. After the breakfast, Siddaramaiah stated that “there are no differences” between the two leaders.

“Our agenda is the 2028 elections. Local body elections are important. We discussed them. We also discussed bringing back Congress in the 2028 elections. We discussed that we will go together. There are no differences between us and there will be no differences in the future,” the Chief Minister said to media.

Siddaramaiah requested DK to take over the top post of the state after the next Assembly elections which will be held in 2028, sources said.

What Was The ‘CM Deal’ In Karnataka

Notably, the crucial breakfast meeting amid the power tussle in the southern state occurred after the grand-old-party-led government completed 2.5 years in power. After Siddaramaiah took the oath as CM in 2023, a “power-sharing deal” was reportedly agreed upon.

Earlier, Siddaramaiah also stated that he will adhere the high command’s decision on the issue.

“We have decided that we will follow whatever the high command says. There will be no confusion from tomorrow. There is still no confusion. Some media reporters have created confusion,” he said.

As per the deal, Shivakumar was supposed to become Karnataka’s new CM post the completion of Siddaramaiah’s 2.5 years of tenure.

Siddaramaiah also rubbished rumours of an impending no-confidence motion challenge from the BJP, which is in Opposition.
