'Kuch toh log kahenge, logo ka kaam hai kehna': Kusha Kapila on coping with negativity and trolls

Social media influencer-turned-actress Kusha Kapila who ‘mutually parted ways’ with ex-husband Zorawar Ahluwalia in June this year, has been in the limelight more than ever after the duo’s decision. Now, the 33-year-old, who will next be seen in Shilpa Shetty’s upcoming film Sukhee, has opened up about her personal and professional life in an interview with Zoom TV. The actress who is also slated for another release with Thank You For Coming alongside Bhumi Pednekar and Shehnaaz Kaur Gill, shared how she deals with online trolls amid widespread negativity.

For the unversed, Kusha was recently targeted for dating actor Arjun Kapoor as rumours about his parting ways with longtime girlfriend Malaika Arora made rounds online.

On coping with online negativity and trolls

Amid rumours covering her from all sides, Kusha Kapila shared that she benefits from a strong support system that includes her friends, family, and colleagues. She further described how everyone forms a circle around her which protects her immensely. “I am so lucky and privileged to have those people in my life,” she added.

On being a public figure

The Sukhee star said that she understands that ‘public scrutiny’ is an inherent aspect of being a public figure. However, she also understands if people benefit from their public persona, they will have something to say and that it is human nature to express opinions.

She added, “Kuch toh log kahenge, logo ka kaam hai kehna (people will keep on saying something). This is liable to happen.” On her current purpose in life, the influencer added, “My life now is just in the service of making my skin thicker and thicker everyday. That’s just what I work towards. Every day I have to be immune and thick-skinned. Scars will heal soon.”

Kusha Kapila and Zorawar Ahluwalia’s relationship

In June, Kush Kapila announced her divorce from her ex-husband, Zorawar Singh Ahluwalia, via an Instagram post. The digital content creators released a joint statement, adding their intention to co-parent their beloved dog, Maya. A part of her Instagram read, “The love and life we have shared together continue to mean everything to us, but sadly, what we seek for ourselves currently does not align. We gave it our all, until we couldn’t anymore.”
