Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister orders an SIT probe into Noida techie Yuvraj Mehta’s death, setting a five-day deadline amid allegations of negligence, delayed rescue, and construction site safety lapses nationwide.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked officials to submit a report on the death of a 27-year-old software engineer in Noida district within five days and ordered a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the incident.
Senior government officials said the chief minister took cognisance of the matter after videos of the incident went viral on social media platforms, sparking public outrage over the alleged negligence of local authorities.
Three-member SIT formed to probe Noida techie’s death
In a statement, officials said a three-member SIT will probe the circumstances that led to the death of the young techie two days ago in Noida’s Sector 150 area after his car fell into a water-filled pit dug at an under-construction site.
Officials said the SIT will be headed by the Additional Director General (ADG), Meerut Zone, with Meerut Divisional Commissioner and Chief Engineer of Public Works Department (PWD) as its members.

It further said that all the departments concerned have been directed to extend full cooperation to the SIT in discharge of its duties.

Mehta’s father Raj Kumar Mehta alleged negligence by local authorities and demanded punishment to those responsible. “Action should be taken against everyone who is involved…so that no one else has to lose their son like this,” the grieving father said.
