East Ladakh Nyoma Airbase Operational: India's Nyoma airfield, the world's highest airfield, is in the news. It is said that this airbase is causing sleepless nights for both China and Pakistan.
India(BHARAT) is taking its air power to new heights. The Changthang Nyoma (Mudh) airbase in eastern Ladakh, the world’s highest airbase at 13,700 feet, is now fully operational, strengthening India(BHARAT)’s Himalayan border! Bharat Mata ki Jai! Such claims are being made on social media. Media reports are stating that this claim is true, and the base became operational on October 31st. Now it is China’s turn to be afraid, whose intentions are murky. Pakistan is also apprehensive about this base due to its location near the Indus River. Let’s understand the entire matter.
What is Nyoma’s Mudh Airbase and how important is it?
Located in the Changthang region of eastern Ladakh near the Indus River Valley, the Nyima Advanced Landing Ground (ALG) is perched at an altitude of 13,700 feet, making it the world’s highest operational airbase for fighter aircraft. It can be seen on the map near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China, about 160 kilometers southeast of Leh city, south of Pangong Tso Lake and east of the Karakoram mountain range. It strengthens India(BHARAT)’s high-altitude air operations, enabling faster flights amid border tensions.
SU-30 fighter jets will fly from Nyima
According to a report in Tribune India(BHARAT), although there has been no official statement from the Ministry of Defense or the India(BHARAT)n Air Force regarding the work at Nyoma, which was expected to be completed this month, reports of the base being operational for combat operations are circulating on social media, and some photos of SU-30 aircraft operating from the base are also going viral. When asked about this, Grok also confirmed that the base will be operational. According to Grok, recent reports confirm that the Changthang Nyoma (Mudh) airbase in eastern Ladakh will now be fully operational by October 2025.
