NVIDIA and Oracle have announced a major partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to build America’s largest AI supercomputer systems, Solstice and Equinox. It is a major step forward for scientific discovery and research capabilities. The Solstice system will feature 100,000 NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs and will join forces with the Equinox system, packing 10,000 Blackwell GPUs.
They will also deliver a combined computing power of 2,200 exaflops. It will help to bring progress in fields from energy to healthcare and materials science.
How NVIDIA And Oracle’s Supercomputer Will Work?
Both supercomputers will be located at Argonne National Laboratory and interconnected by NVIDIA’s advanced networking. It will provide researchers and scientists access to one of greatest infrastructure for AI model development.
Using software like NVIDIA Megatron-Core and TensorRT, these systems will create and scale advanced reasoning and agentic AI workflows. It will be the technological backbone for open science initiatives and transformative research projects.
NVIDIA, Oracle’s Partnership With US Govt
The initiative is part of a larger public-private partnership approach of industry investments and federally sponsored use cases, and shows a national strategy to secure leadership in artificial intelligence and scientific innovation. Executives from NVIDIA, Oracle, and Argonne have stated how the effort will prepare thousands of researchers to fully utilize these resources, connecting to premier DOE experimental facilities like the Advanced Photon Source, and tackling major national challenges.
