Karachi: We have read several news reports that an autorickshaw driver or a beggar became a millionaire overnight by winning a lottery. We have also heard success stories of people who built their empire from scratch. But there are some people who want to become rich without even putting in an effort and these are the people who commit crimes in the first place. A similar incident has come to light from Pakistan where Karachi Police have apprehended a domestic worker who allegedly stole more than PKR 2,27,000from his employer, The Express Tribune reported.

Who Is This Millionaire Servant?

The accused domestic worker has been identified as Wajid Ali. Cops have recovered  5-tola gold biscuits, two 2-tola biscuits, seven 1-tola biscuits, and PKR 227,000 in cash from him, Express Tribune reported.

According to police, he transferred large sums through ATMs and cheques, amounting to millions of rupees.

Ali had been working at the same residence for the past eight years and he had confessed that he stole money, gold and other valuables from his employer. He stole these things during the years of his service.

The report by the Express Tribune claimed that Ali had repeatedly stolen cash, gold, US dollars, and various other valuable items from cupboards and safes.

The Embezzlement

According to District South Police spokesperson, the accused servant also purchased properties and vehicles from the stolen money. He had also kept large amounts in different bank accounts.

The Sahil Police lodged a case against the accused and handed him over to the Investigation Police.

The investigative team is now examining his bank accounts, assets, and financial transactions.

Not The Only ‘Rich’ Servant

Ali is not the only one, a few months ago a ‘millionaire’ domestic worker identified as Shehnaz was arrested. She was living a lavish lifestyle and owned cars, motorcycles, apartments, and shops.

Earlier in July, Investigation SSP Ali Hassan said that a person identified as Farzana Kausar alias Mehreen allegedly stole jewellery worth PKR 6.5 million from a bungalow which is located in Karachi and fled the city. She was later arrested through technical surveillance.
