A 30-year-old mother-of-five jumps into a well with her children in Rajasthan's Beawar district.
Rajasthan Suicide: In a shocking incident, a pair one-year twins died after their mother jumped into a well with her five children following a domestic dispute in a village of Beawar district in Rajasthan.
Woman jumps into well with five kids
According to the police, the incident took place in Jhutha village of the Raipur Marwar area, when the woman, identified as 30-year-old Sumitra, allegedly jumped into a well along with her five children, following an argument with her sister-in-law.
Giving details, an official said villagers arrived at the scene and rescued Sumitra and three of her children, but her one-year-old twins– Prem and Naru– did not survive the ordeal and drowned to their deaths.
“Sumitra and her three surviving children sustained serious injuries and are being treated at a hospital,” said Assistant Sub-Inspector Kailash Nayak, adding that her husband, Bhakar Ram, was in Beawar at the time of the incident.
What did the police say?
The couple has been married for nine years, and preliminary investigations suggest that the woman took the extreme step following a domestic dispute with her sister-in-law, the officer said.
A case has been registered in this regard and further investigation is underway, he said, adding that no arrests have been made in the case so far.
