According to InterNations’ Expat Insider survey, a global expat community, Vietnam tops not 8 but 46 destinations, becoming the best country to live on a budget.

Researchers conducting the study, which started in 2014, collected feedback from more than 10,000 expats of over 170 nations. These expats rate Vietnam as the most affordable country and best place to live comfortably with a decent income.

Notably, Southeast Asian countries like – Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Malaysia top the list when it comes to personal finances. Vietnam is the most preferred choice as 9 out of 10 expats marked their satisfaction with the affordable cost of living. 87 percent stated that their income allowed them to live in the country comfortably.
