Are schools shut in Delhi-NCR, UP today? Delhi and the adjoining NCR woke up to dense fog on Monday, which enveloped the entire region, reducing the visibility to near zero. The India(BHARAT) Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for dense fog for Delhi-NCR amid cold spells. Commuters faced problems because of reduced visibility due to dense fog. The dense fog and winter chills have forced Uttar Pradesh schools to shut.
Schools Shut In Uttar Pradesh
State Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday issued directions to all the schools to shut all the classes up to 12th until January 1 due to severe weather conditions.
It means all ICSE, CBSE, and UP Board schools across the state will be shut till January 1.
Meanwhile, Noida’s district administration also announced school holidays, citing bad weather conditions from 29 December to 1 January.
As per a report by Jagran Josh, most schools in Delhi, Noida, and Gurgaon are shut for the winter break. Other institutions are also avoiding holding regular classes due to the winter vacation.
Delhi Weather Forecast
According to the Meteorological Department, due to the activation of a western disturbance, the capital city may remain partly cloudy on the evening of December 31st. Rain is also possible in parts of Delhi-NCR on January 1st. The International Meteorological Department has issued an alert for severe cold and fog in Delhi-NCR before the New Year.
IMD Issues Orange Alert For Fog
Moderate to dense fog engulfed many areas of Delhi this morning. The maximum temperature is expected to hover between 25-28 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be 7 degrees Celsius or below. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for fog.
Fog Alert
The weather department stated that dense to very dense fog conditions during night and early morning hours are very likely in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh till December 31, in Himachal Pradesh till December 30.
Foggy conditions are also likely over the Jammu division till December 30, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal till December 31. Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Odisha also witness fog till January 1.
Cold Wave Alert
According to IMD, cold wave conditions is expected to prevail at isolated places in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, north Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh between December 28 and 30.
Snow And Rain Due To Western Disturbance
A fresh western disturbance is expected to hit the Western Himalayan region from Tuesday, due to which light to moderate rainfall or snowfall is expected over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and adjoining areas.
