Sheikh Hasina to teach Muhammad Yunus a lesson, vows to remove ‘radical Bangladesh government’, calls ICT verdict…
Hasina described the judgment as the biggest joke of 2025 and alleged that a terrorist and extremist government has weaponised the ICT.
Dhaka: The International Crime Tribunal (ICT) in Bangladesh has sentenced the former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to death. The tribunal has also given a death sentence to the country’s former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal along with Hasina. Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mamun has been shown leniency. Mamun has been sentenced to five years because he turned government witness.
In a text message sent to News18, Hasina said the decision has no value, no legality, and no acceptance among the people.
Sheikh Hasina Reacts:
Sheikh Hasina called the decision illegitimate and said, “It has been delivered by an illegitimate extremist government. The people of Bangladesh have rejected the verdict of this kangaroo court. The Awami League also rejects it.”
Hasina described the judgment as the biggest joke of 2025 and alleged that a terrorist and extremist government has weaponised the ICT.
Sheikh Hasina launched a scathing attack on the Yunus government and said that the current Bangladesh government has seized power through unconstitutional means and is now trying to rewrite Bangladesh’s political history by banning the Awami League and attacking the legacy of the 1971 Liberation War.
Hasina further added that her goal now is to restore democracy in Bangladesh and save the country. She said, “With the support of the people, we will remove this radical extremist Yunus from power. We have defeated the anti-1971 forces before, and we will defeat them again.”
It is important to note that the verdict against Sheikh Hasina has come at a time when Bangladesh is going through a period of severe instability. Foreign diplomats, international observers, and rights groups have condemned the ICT ruling. Following the verdict, tensions have risen across the country, including in the capital Dhaka.
