New Delhi: December 11 is the last day to submit forms for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists underway in 11 states and Union Territories across the country, excluding Kerala. Election Commission (ECI) officials will review the progress of form digitisation and submission on Thursday, 11 December 2025.
During this meeting, an extension of the SIR deadline for Uttar Pradesh and other states may be considered. This information was quoted by NDTV, citing Election Commission sources. According to the sources, West Bengal is also among the states where the deadline might be extended. Earlier, the commission had extended the deadline for Kerala from December 11 to December 18.
SIR Deadline Was Extended on November 30
The Election Commission had decided to extend the SIR deadline by a week on November 30. The commission stated that the final voter list will now be published on February 14, 2026.
The enumeration period for adding and removing voters, i.e., voter verification, will now continue until December 11, which was earlier scheduled until December 4. The draft list, which was initially to be released on December 9, will now be released on December 16.
Political Parties to Receive List of Deceased Voters
The Election Commission said on Wednesday, December 11, that under the ongoing SIR process in 12 states and Union Territories, booth-level agents (BLAs) of political parties will be given a list of deceased, shifted, and absent voters before the draft voter list is released. The draft voter list will be released on December 16.
Earlier, the commission had instructed Chief Electoral Officers to prepare a list of absent, shifted, deceased, or duplicate voters for each booth and provide it to the booth agents. These are the voters whom the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) could not contact despite three attempts. The same method was adopted during the SIR process in Bihar. 6.
