Weather Update: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for dense for in Delhi and NCR. Weather Update: Residents of Delhi and adjoining National Capital Region (NCR) woke up to toxic smog on Sunday. Several parts of the capital city reported dangerous levels of pollution, as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The India(BHARAT)n Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for moderate to dense smog in the capital city. Dense fog has also blanketed parts of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan, reducing the visibility. Trains and flight operations have also been affected due to dense fog. Due to the activation of a western disturbance, the weather has changed in the Himalayan regions. Snowfall has been witnessed in parts of Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Dense Fog Alert
Dense fog has enveloped the North India(BHARAT) region including Punjab, Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, and Haryana. Cities including Amritsar, Jalandhar, Prayagraj, Kushinagar, Shahjahanpur, Bareilly, and Aligarh witnessed a reduction in visibility. The weather department has issued a yellow alert for dense fog in Delhi and NCR. Dense fog conditions also affected train and flight operations.
A warning of dense to very dense fog has been issued in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh until December 31.
Delhi Air Quality
Residents of Delhi-NCR are forced to breathe hazardous air. Several parts of the capital city recorded dangerous levels of pollution, as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Noida and Ghaziabad reported an AQI value of more than 400 (severe). The air quality of Delhi-NCR will remain very poor today with no chance of relief. IMD has advised drivers to be cautious and use fog lights in foggy conditions.
Delhi Weather Update
Moderate to dense fog is expected in the early morning on December 28. The minimum temperature is expected to hover between 5 and 8 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature is expected to be between 21 and 23 degrees Celsius.
Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand Weather Update
Due to the drop in mercury and snowfall on the peaks, nights have become colder in the Kashmir Valley. The nighttime or minimum temperature has gone below zero in many places. Sonamarg became the coldest with minus 5.8 degrees Celsius. Srinagar recorded 2.6 degrees Celsius on Saturday. Snowfall has been witnessed in parts of Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Light rain and snowfall are also expected in Himachal between December 30 and January 2. As per IMD, there are chances of light to moderate snowfall in Kashmir on the New Year.
