The hotel giant behind brands such as Super 8, Days Inn, and Ramada, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts Inc. (WH), recently reported its third-quarter financial results.
Earnings were met with a “negative market reaction, as revenue fell below expectations and RevPAR (revenue per available room) continued to decline,” reported Yahoo Finance.
The other major hotel chains, including Hilton, Marriott, and Hyatt, all reported U.S. RevPAR (revenue per available room) declines in the third quarter, although Wyndham saw the biggest drop of 4.8% year over year, according to the company’s press release.
The decline in RevPAR, considered a key industry metric, is attributed to the uncertain economic climate. According to industry veterans and experts who gathered at the recent Lodging Conference, the biggest challenges hotels face include:
- Economic uncertainty.
- Rising labor and real estate expenses.
- Turbulent travel environment.
- Tariff pressures.

During the Q3 2025 earnings call, Wyndham CEO Geoffrey Ballotti discussed the hotel’s recent AI strategy, but also pointed out the importance of its luxury offering.
“Luxury is the only segment that’s been able to outpace inflation growth, which is very good news for the economy and midscale segments from a long-term pricing power standpoint,” Ballotti pointed out.

Wyndham Rewards offers members one-tier status upgrade through end of 2025
Wyndham Rewards, a loyalty program for Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, shared a major holiday promotion that will last through December 31, 2025. Under the new holiday offering, Wyndham rewards members can claim an instant, one-tier status upgrade.
To enjoy the limited offer, members should visit WyndhamRewards.com/Upgrade to request their one-level membership bump.
Wyndham teamed up with actress Beverly D'Angelo, known for her roles in the classic movie "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" and the musical "Hair," to announce the limited holiday offering. In the promotional video, D’Angelo says, “You are about to get something that actually works.”
“This holiday season, Wyndham Rewards is giving everyone, yes everyone, a one-level status bump. Translation: extra perks when they matter most. We’re talking early check-in, late check-out, a preferred room, sweet upgrades, and more.”
For those who already hold the highest tier status — Diamond — Wyndham is offering its biggest multiplier of the year: 5x the points on all qualified stays completed by December 31.
Wyndham Rewards’ upgraded status for all: details
Wyndham Rewards is the award-winning loyalty program of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts that was introduced in 2003, according to Wyndham’s 2009 annual report.
In its 22 years of existence, the program has changed, but the goal behind it has remained the same: to allow members to earn points and stay for free or at a discounted rate at more than 60,000 hotels, vacation ownership properties, and vacation rentals around the world.
The newest offering arrives just ahead of the holiday season, something many travelers are looking for.
The Wyndham Rewards loyalty program consists of four distinct levels of membership:
- Blue
- Gold
- Platinum
- Diamond
Now, with a complimentary limited-time upgrade, every member can get at least Gold-level membership for the holidays, making it easier to get more from their next stay.
- Blue – Unlocked upon enrollment, Blue-level members immediately get 1,000 points with every qualified stay, free Wi-Fi, rollover nights, and more.
- Gold – Unlocked after five qualifying nights, Gold-level members receive all the benefits of Blue-level membership plus added perks: a preferred room, late checkout, a dedicated member services line, and 10% more points with every qualified stay.
- Platinum – Unlocked after 15 qualifying-nights, Platinum-level members receive all the benefits of Gold-level membership plus added perks: early check-in, free car rental upgrades at participating locations, and 15% more points with every qualified stay.
- Diamond – Unlocked after 40 qualifying nights, Diamond-level members receive all the benefits of Platinum-level membership plus added perks: suite upgrades, a welcome amenity at check-in (where available), and 20% more points with every qualified stay.

Marriott, Hyatt also drop holiday offerings ahead of season
"We all know what travel looks like this time of year — crowded airports, packed cars, and family gatherings that always seem to grow by a few unexpected guests. Wyndham is here to help,” stated GVP of Loyalty and Guest Engagement Mike Shiwdin.
Shiwdin concluded that this “upgrade is our way of reminding travelers that with Wyndham Rewards, every stay shines a little brighter."
Wyndham is not the only hospitality giant to drop a promotional limited-time offer ahead of the holidays.
Earlier this month, Marriott International (MAR) announced a special deal for all Marriott Bonvoy members.
As part of its Cyber Week Sale, Marriott is offering the longest stay window in the sale’s history: from Nov. 30, 2025, through Feb. 22, 2026. This is the first time Marriott is offering such a long stay window with a 25% discount when booking through the Marriott Bonvoy app.
Hyatt also confirmed on Nov. 13 that its Cyber Sale for World of Hyatt members has started, enabling members to book their next trip or give the gift of travel at a 30% discount.
Only loyal World of Hyatt members can unlock early access to the sale, with exclusive savings of up to 30% at participating hotels in the Americas for a limited time.
