Uttar Pradesh launched a new initiative in its government schools for Classes 6 to 8 under SCERT (State Council of Educational Research and Training). It has started 10 bagless days for the students. It aims to make students more creative, engage them in group activities, and provide them with hands-on learning. It will further reduce their academic pressure and make learning stress-free.

SCERT’s Anandam

The initiative of bagless days has been executed under the ‘Anandam’ guidelines of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT). In addition, it corresponds to the National Education Policy (NEP). The curriculum of ‘Anandam’ promotes joyful learning and activity-based education in schools.

What will students’ participation look like?

The participation of students from Classes 6 to 8 in the government schools under ‘Anandam’ will provide them with skill-based education. It will promote their creativity and interaction with peers, encouraging collaboration.

Saturday competitions 

From the full week’s schedule, Saturdays will be especially designated for conducting competitions along with activities that promote collaboration. The schedule may include sports activities to encourage fitness and picnics to relieve academic stress. In addition, the day will consist of multiple speech-related competitions to build confidence and communication skills among the students.

What’s the objective of bagless days in UP’s government schools?

The aim of the 10 bagless days in Uttar Pradesh’s government schools from Classes 6–8 is to encourage team spirit among the classmates. It will also encourage them to explore various interests and develop communication skills. This initiative has been planned for the full academic year.
