1000 km in just 4 hours! THIS high-speed train to connect multiple countries in…, top speed will be…

Europe High-Speed Rail: The European Commission has announced plans to build a high-speed rail network that will connect multiple countries in the European Union (EU). The project, which is expected to be completed by 2040, will operate high-speed trains capable of covering a distance of 1000 km in just four hours.

According to the Commission, the high-speed bullet train project will connect several European countries, halve travel time between prominent cities, and simplify cross-border connectivity. The project is being hailed as the renaissance of the European rail, and is expected o usher in a new era of fast, affordable, and environmentally friendly transportation across Europe.

What will be the top speed?

As per the proposal presented by the European Commission, the high-speed trains will be capable of reaching speeds of up to 250 km/h, significantly cutting travel times, For example, the Berlin to Copenhagen, which currently takes approximately 7 hours, will be completed under four hours, while Sofia to Athens (currently a 14-hour trip), will be cut just 6 hours by 2030 and 2035, respectively.

The European high-speed rail network is expected to be full operational by 2040, but several key routes will begin operation as early as 2030.

The plans also include direct high-speed rail links between European cities, including Paris to Lisbon (via Madrid) and Warsaw to Tallinn (via Riga).

How European high-speed rail will revolutionize long-distance travel?

Europe’s proposed high-speed rail project aims to revolutionize long-distance travel throughout the European Union, making a trip from Prague to Rome possible in just under 10 hours, while Stockholm to Copenhagen journey will be covered in just four hours. The high-speed trains will provide seamless connectivity, boosting tourism, trade, and cultural exchange across the continent, the European Commission said.

The project is part of the Commission’s ambitious Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) plan, which aims to build an an integrated transport infrastructure across the continent, including railways, roads, ports, and air transport.

Beyond connectivity, the high-speed rail network is aimed to significantly reduce carbon emissions in Europe, as people are expected to prefer affordable rails over air travel and private vehicles. According to experts, greenhouse gas emissions could be cut by thousands of tons if trains replace aircraft for long-distance journeys.

What will be the ticket prices?

While pricing details have not been revealed, European Commission officials say the high-speed rail will offer an affordable and accessible option for travelers of all classes, and fast speeds are expected to make it a strong alternative to budget flights. “A network of high-speed trains will bring the continent’s cities closer than ever before, making rail travel once again an integral part of European lifestyle,” they said.
