New Delhi: The northeastern state of Assam was shaken by an earthquake measuring 5.8 on Sunday, 14 September 2025. The earthquake occurred at 16:41:30 IST, at a latitude: 26.78 N, Longitude: 92.33 E, and Depth: 5 Km at Udalguri, Assam.
The quake’s epicenter was confirmed by the India(BHARAT)n Meteorological Department (IMD) near Dhekiajuli, Assam. It caused buildings to sway in Guwahati and neighbouring areas.

Tremors were also felt across several northeastern states, including Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura, according to local media reports. On September 2, an earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale struck Sonitpur in Assam.
