The latest expulsions come two days after the RJD had expelled 27 leaders, including two sitting MLAs and five former legislators, on similar grounds.
Bihar Assembly Election: In a major setback for the Opposition INDIA bloc, known as the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has expelled ten of its leaders, including its state vice-president and an incumbent MLA, for “anti-party activities”.
Why RJD expelled leaders from party?
In a statement on Wednesday, RJD’s Bihar chief Mangani Lal Mandal said the party has expelled ten leaders, including state vice president Satish Kumar and Dehri MLA Fateh Bahadur Singh, for “anti-party activities”. The expelled leaders also include former MLAs Gulam Jilani Warsi and Reyazul Haq Raju, the statement said.
Notably, Fateh Bahadur Singh, the MLA from Dehri Assembly constituency, is contesting the upcoming Bihar Assembly Election against RJD’s official candidate after being denied a ticket.
The latest expulsions come two days after the RJD had expelled 27 leaders, including two sitting MLAs and five former legislators, on similar grounds.
Tejashwi Yadav, the younger son and heir-apparent of RJD supremo Lalu Yadav, is the chief ministerial face of the RJD-Congress led INDIA bloc, aka the Mahagathbandhan, in Bihar.
How BJP reacted to RJD expulsions?
Reacting to the development, BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya took a jibe at the opposition alliance, saying the RJD won’t have any workers or voters left at this pace. “At this rate, the party will soon be left without any workers as well as voters,” Malviya wrote on X while sharing the list of leaders recently expelled from the RJD.
Earlier this month, the ruling BJP’s state chief Dilip Jaiswal had claimed that around ‘half a dozen’ incumbent MLA from Lalu Yadav’s RJD and the Congress will will join the saffron party ahead of the Bihar Assembly Election, which is slated to be conducted on November 6 and 11th next month.
Bihar Assembly Election will be held in two phases on November 6 and November 11, with the counting of votes to follow on November 14.
