Deepfake Controversy: Alia Bhatt Falls Prey to AI-Generated Video AGAIN, Fans Want Legal Action

Alia Bhatt Deepfake Video: Alia Bhatt appeared in a deepfake video that has been all over the internet. Fans are becoming increasingly concerned about the possible threats linked with deepfake technology as a result of this AI-generated video’s rapid internet dissemination. The video was posted to Instagram by Sameeksha Avtr, and it has received over 17 million views so far. The user’s Instagram bio read – All the videos made using AI for only entertainment purposes. The deepfake in the video showed Alia Bhatt getting ready while sporting a black chikankari kurta. She was seen putting on makeup and posing for the camera throughout the video.

Nevertheless, Alia Bhatt’s fans and followers expressed their worries over the use of artificial intelligence (AI) when the deepfake footage went viral. One of the users wrote, “Is this even legal? Can you edit the face and post videos like this?” Another user commented, “Using another person’s face to get views is illegal…you know right?” The third user wrote, “Mujhe ek baar ke liye lga alia bhatt hai.” The fourth user commented, “For a sec I thought Alia Bhatt uploaded a GRWM video.”

What is Deepfake Technology?

A deepfake is a multimedia piece (picture or video) in which a person’s physique or face has been altered to make them appear to be someone else.  With the use of deepfake technology, lifelike films, audio recordings, and photos may be produced that can deceive and influence viewers by modifying the words and actions of one person and superimposing their likeness on another, creating a false narrative or distributing misleading information.

Deepfake technology is, meanwhile, also being abused to defame prominent figures, including politicians, actors, and others, to make the victim lose their reputation shortly before an election or film, depriving them of future possibilities.

Bollywood Celebs Who Fell Pray to Deepfake

Deepfake instances have recently impacted several stars, including Aamir Khan, Kajol, Katrina Kaif, and Rashmika Mandanna. Four individuals were found by Delhi Police last year who were behind the distribution of a deepfake film that purportedly showed Rashmika Mandanna. The video showed Zara Patel, a woman, going into an elevator while having Mandanna’s visage digitally altered.
