Real Life Srikanth Bolla Reveals He Didn’t Want Any Biopic on Him: ‘I Was Avoiding…’ – Exclusive

In a world where we tend to lose hope in a flick of a finger, there are people like Srikanth Bolla who will challenge you to think otherwise, to never give up, to be more empathetic. Such is the story of Srikanth who is, in the most true and earnest sense, a self-made man who had nothing but his belief in himself and a strong willpower to power through life. Rajkummar Rao’s recent film ‘Srikanth’ is based on the true story of the stalwart, and founder of Bollant Industries. A visually challenged man who dreams of becoming the President of India, got a scholarship at MIT and started his own company to bring employment to people who are disabled. But, Bolla never instantly agreed to get a film made on his life. In an exclusive and insightful conversation with India.com, Srikanth Bolla spoke about his initial reluctance, most emotional scene and more.

Hailing from humble dwellings, Srikanth answers every question with modesty. When asked about his first instinct for getting a biopic made on his life, he says, “I am so engaged in my work, I am passionate about growing business, I like to be on top of anything people say I can’t do it. So when someone said we want to do a biopic on you, I said arre yaar mai toh itna chota hun, I haven’t done much. Biopics are shot on big people, what would you get out of me.”

Bolla says that he and Tushar share a bond land fight like Tom and Jerry. Recalling his encounters with the directors he says, “But before anyone could talk about biopics to me, this Tushar somehow got into the picture and started chasing me with random ways. Once he says we are giving you an award, next time he says something else, once he says I am a director. So I couldn’t digest these facts, why someone would want to do it.”

“I was avoiding him, I was avoiding everybody. And somehow Ravi (Bolla’s business partner and a close friend) made me meet him. That zeal and confidence I had already gaged by then.  I knew ye zid pe baitha hai, kaise bh karke  zarbadasti karke mujhse khichega yeh. I understood his resilience. He used to call me 200 times a day to get details.” he adds.

Srikanth Bolla on Rajkummar Rao’s Performance

Another striking aspect that sets Srikanth Bolla apart from the bandwagon is how he embraces his vulnerabilities. He gets emotional and he is not afraid or ashamed to speak about it. Bolla mentioned how the film made him cry multiple times. He said how he forgot it was his story.

Speaking about reel-life Srikanth Bolla, aka, Rajkummar Rao, he says, “His attitude, his passion for the film is amazing. In generally and most importantly emotions, the way he has connected. The way he whenever I meet him the way he hugs me says ‘Hi bro!’. I means he is a star, they have stardom, he need not go all out to make a relationship. That is what is best about him. He has absolutely delivered flawless performance.”

Lastly, when asked if the accomplished entrepreneur still wishes to be the first visually-challenged President of India, Bolla’s answer is affirmative. He is already working in that direction and hopes to achieve this dream too.
