Diwali Trains Big Announcement: The India(BHARAT)n Railways has recently announced that it will run 763 Puja special trains to cater to the surging demand for passengers during Diwali and Chhath. These trains will cover a total of 10,782 trips across various zones. According to officials, these trains will provide additional capacity and smoother travel for passengers. Some of the trains are already in operation, assisting passengers heading home to celebrate major festivals.

When Will All The Designated Trains Be In Service?

While some of the special trains are already in operation, others will start their services in coming days as the demand rise. As per India(BHARAT)n Railways, these trains will run on daily and weekly basis across various zones.

What Did The Railways Minister Say?

Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday interacted with media inspecting the holding area at New Delhi Railway Station, stated the department is able to run more special trains because of the the enhanced capacity of railway lines on heavily trafficked routes.

“A record number of special trains have been arranged for Chhath and Diwali. This has been made possible by a significant capacity increase. The Cabinet is regularly approving new tracks,” Vaishnaw said.

“Notifications for approximately 10,700 trains (services) have been issued. Additionally, 150 trains, or approximately 2,000 services, have been designated as unreserved. This takes the total number of special trains (services) to over 12,000 this year,” he added.

Which Train Routes Have High Demand?

As per Ministry of Railways data, the Northern Railway is expected to witness the highest number of trips – 1,925 – across 52 trains. Another zone is the East Central Railway, which is likely to see 1,324 journeys through 74 trains.

It is worth mentioning that Both of zones cover major cities like – Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

How Many Trains Has The Central Railway Put Into Service?

The Central Railway has deployed a total of 68 special trains, which will do 1,299 trips. The South Central Railway trains will do 1,015 trips, North Western Railway has also increased its trips to 942, and Western Railway (WR) with 1,198 trips.

  • The special trains will run with both reserved and unreserved coaches
  • The special trains currently in operation covering routes such as Puri-Patna and Bhubaneswar-Yesvantpur.
  • Additional train services also include Jhajha-Danapur, Howrah-Raxaul, and Kanpur Central-Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal.
  • Other routes for the special trains are – Charlapalli-Naharlagun and Gorakhpur-Asansol.
  • Tickets for these special services are available on online and offline channels.
